“Lessons Learned from Ten Generative AI Misuse Cases”
I love reading blogs from our friends at the Cyberbullying Research Center. They really know how to take an issue, conduct analysis, and provide straightforward posts about various topics. Over the past year, I’ve been focusing heavily on AI-related issues in my training sessions. I’ve been encouraging adults to stay up-to-date with platforms, trends, behaviors, and the use of AI with youth. They will be using this technology, and this will be the world they grow up in. We have to be educated enough to lead them and help them understand the use and misuse of this technology. Five years from now, AI is going to be indistinguishable from real life in many ways.
In this blog post entitled “Lessons Learned from Ten Generative AI Misuse Cases,” Dr. Hinduja gives a brief overview of how AI was tragically misused in many cases. Please take a minute to read this article and begin to learn how AI can be abused by mischievous people and how the platforms themselves have had faults that led to unfortunate outcomes.
Stay on top of the AI trend as best you can. It is something that is part of our lives, and we have to help shape our youths’ understanding of it and how to respond. A quote I used at my last training related to kids and the world: “Children aren’t suspicious, and I want them to live in a world where they don’t have to be.” I really like this concept, but unfortunately, I don’t think that our kids are going to grow up in a digital world where they can take what they see at face value and live without suspicion of what scrolls past their screens.
