The Metaverse and Kids

I often close my trainings with the quote, ‘We can’t stop the waves, but we can learn to surf.’ Despite our resistance, discomfort, or confusion about the allure of the virtual world for today’s youth, we cannot ignore it or assume it will all work out on its own. As we age, it’s natural to shy away from new technology—just as our parents and grandparents clung to their familiar ways. I remember wondering why they wouldn’t try the new methods available to them.

Our children are growing up in a world that is different from the one we knew. We may not like or fully understand it, but it is their reality, and we need to be engaged. The Cyberbullying Research Center has explored the Metaverse and provided valuable recommendations for those who will develop or use this platform.
